Live Sport Broadcast Production
Big Ten Student U
I work for Big Ten Network as an Executive Producer of the University of Michigan division of Big Ten Student U, an on-campus experience unique to the Big Ten Conference that provides students with the opportunity to produce full television broadcasts of sporting events using the same equipment, software, and packages as Big Ten Network and Fox Sports. I coordinate with various members of the University Athletics Department to coordinate team coverage, credentials, logistics, and more. I also work with executives at Big Ten Network to coordinate production, the transmission of our broadcasts, maintenance and upgrades of equipment, among a plethora of other duties. On game days, I direct a large percentage of broadcasts, making the actual decisions of which camera is live on-air at what time, figuring out how to get the angles and perspectives that tell the story of the game to the viewer best. When I am not directing I am often producing, working with the on-air talent, graphics operators, replay operators, and scorebox operators to coordinate all facets of the production and provide as much to the broadcast director as possible. I also work on production for the in-house videoboard shows at Michigan Football, Hockey, and Basketball games, as a wireless camera operator, director, replay assistant, and first-and-ten line operator.
Fox Sports and Big Ten Network
I am trained on parabolic microphone operation for Big Ten Network football games, and help with setup/strike, along with utility on other linear Olympic sport broadcasts. I have also worked as a utility on Fox's Big Noon Kickoff, the live pregame show before its flagship 12:00PM College Football broadcast.
